Casey Jones Busy "Scratching Gravel" in 1913

(09/16/2002)

Transcribed by Norma Knotts Shaffer from microfilm of the Calhoun Chronicle dated 5/13/1913.

The gasolene packet "Casey Jones" is making regular trips to Creston during the present low stage of water.  K. Stevens, the untiring master of the little craft, keeps her "scratching gravel" when there is as much as four inches of water on the shoals.
