Carbon Black Construction Underway in 1899

Transcribed by Norma Knotts Shaffer from microfilm of the Calhoun Chronicle dated 11/21/1899.

The buildings being erected for the Carbon factory for the present are four 20x60 buildings, 10 feet to the square, an office and two other buildings, the dimension of which we have not learned. At present they are working eight men. W.C. Johnson and sons are putting the necessary lumber on the grounds and the buildings are to be of iron and will add greatly to the wealth of this community.
