As I prepare to phase back into writing again, I am submitting a short story written by my eight year old grandson Levi. At his school this year Levi submitted this story which won him 3rd. place in young writers’ award for second grade. Of course that gives me bragging rights you know. So being one of my sources of inspiration and the subject of previous stories, I give you Levi – Extreme Racer, in his own words.

LEGS GOING SIDE TO SIDE

By Levi Walker

My brother and I zoomed on our dirt bikes. My bike was green and his was yellow. Then we went up an enormous hill and back to the brown house.

The next morning the dirt bike race started. My legs going side to side and the wind forcibly smacking me in the face. Soon, I ran out of gas and there I was stranded in the dark holler. I was lost.

I sat on my dirt bike wondering what was going to happen next. Suddenly, my dad bolted out of nowhere with an orange gas can and poured gas in the scraped up gas tank. Dad dashed off and I stormed off like a rocket.
