State Police say information provided by the public tied accused Calhoun bank robber Richard Dewayne Vance, 22, with the crime.

Police say Vance went to Calhoun Banks at Arnoldsburg on September 13, riding a blue Honda ATV 4-Trax stolen earlier in the Grannyshe area of Washington District.

Vance then held-up bank employees wielding a knife, getting away with a yet undisclosed amount of money, according to the criminal complaint.

Police say a search of the property where Vance had been living, about five miles from where the ATV was stolen, "yielded plain view discoveries of a gasoline container and a nylon saddle bag-style pouch."

The criminal complaint says the owner of the ATV said both items had been attached to the ATV when it had been stolen.

"These items were found to positively be the same items as those reported by the (ATV) victim, identifiable features/marks on the items," says the complaint.

A woman police identified as Reva R. Trimble, with whom Vance had been dating, after reviewing surveillance video of the robbery, told authorities she was "1000% sure that the bank robber shown in said surveillance was the defendant."

Trimble, according to the criminal complaint, gave particular details about what Vance was wearing during the robbery.

The complaint says those details included "the style/design of the hat, the boots, a t-shirt, as well as camo-colored pants ..."

Trimble told State Police she was positive that the back pack used by the defendant was "the same back pack which she previously seen the defendant use," also identifying Vance's physical features.
