Absolum Huffman Builds Conveyance in 1907

(04/04/2002)

Transcribed by Norma Knotts Shaffer from microfilm of the Calhoun Chronicle dated 1/22/1907.

Absolum Huffman and daughter, Mrs. "Tip" Campbell, returned last Wednesday from a trip to Richwood, where they were waiting on the sick family of Bob Marshall.  The conveniences for traveling were not very good, so "Uncle Absolum" who is about seventy five years old, built a John boat at Burnsville and started rowing down the Little Kanawha, but luckily ran across the "Return" at Glenville.  He was making fine time and seemed to be moving along as well as a boy in his prime.
