CALHOUN'S HOT WEEK - CHS Basketball Team Moving On Up (01/16/2002) From WVSPNSportsOnTheNet For those who don't pay attention to the LKC, here's a heads up. Calhoun has been hot lately and improved to 7-3. They took down 8-1 Gilmer Friday night and for those of you who didn't seek it missed a lesson on defense. On Saturday Calhoun traveled to Buffalo Putnam and took a close one from the Bison's 83-82. The Red Devils have some wonderful talent on their team and they all know their roles. Arguably two of the best defensive players around, Houchin and Stevens, don't have to put up a ton of numbers but the team can't win without them. Also Calhoun has a sophomore who does wonders with the ball. Marcus Davis put up 37 points, 11 rebounds and three steals against Buffalo and continues to be an impact player. All in all, Calhoun has a well-rounded team and they all contribute when needed. If you're ever in doubt, watch players like Carpenter, Walker, Sampson, Parks and Groves. They're instant excitement and all contribute. Watching this team is a tribute to teamwork...not a me, me, me outing every couple of nights.
