The WV Mountain Bike Association's first race this year is at Pipestem State Park on April 4th.
After a great 2003 season, where three of 12 national team members competed in the World Championships, the 2004 team is ready and hungry for some 1st place spots this year.
The team has been to Waco, TX, for the 1st NORBA NCA race in mid March.
Joey Riddle, racing in the Expert Men 25-29 Class scored an overall rating of 3rd place; Steve Thaxton, racing in the Men's Master Expert 40-44 Class was rated 4th; Clay Evans, racing in the Semi-Pro class was rated 5th overall; Andrew Fetty, racing in the Junior Expert (under 18)class, rated 16th overall; Mandi Riddle, racing in the Women's Pro Class, rated 36th overall; and Bryan Fawley, racing in the Men's Expert Class, rated 50th overall.
These mountain bikers have been training all winter for their first outing.
Team Bon Jovi/WV also showed at the AMBC Fitness Concepts Greenbrier
Challenge last week near Boonesboro, MD.
Bryan Fawley placed 4th in the Men's Pro Class; Mandi Riddle placed 3rd in the Women's Pro Class;Joey Riddle placed 9th in the Men's Senior Expert Class, and Cai Clothier placed 1st in the Junior 11 & 12 year old's class.
The public is invited to cheer these West Virginians this Sunday at Pipestem.
