| Sportswriter Gaylen Duskey has suggested Justin Ashley for the Dutton
Award at the Parkersburg News-Sentinel.
Duskey writes "I have covered a lot of wrestling in my 35 years of
newspaper work and I have to rate him as one of the top wrestlers I
have seen. How good? So good he would be good in Ohio."
"He finished his career at Calhoun High School with a record of 129-2 and
three state titles. His losses, honestly, were both upsets."
Duskey says he was 43-1 and state champion at 112 pounds as a
sophomore; 44-0 and state champion at 125 pounds as a junior; and 43-1
and
state champion at 130 pounds as a senior. He was injured and did not
wrestle as a freshman.
"I know there are many excellent wrestlers in the state -- many right there
in Wood County -- but none is better than Ashley."
Duskey also said "If you want, I can send my pitch for Marcus Davis to be
all-state again, but I think that is probably a lead pipe cinch."
