According to Calhoun County basketball coach Tim Davis the Red Devils played probably their best game of the year Wednesday night.
Calhoun battered Clay County 97-54 in that game putting up an almost unheard of 40 points in the second quarter while hauling down another
almost unheard of 70 rebounds.
“We double checked the film and the boys had 70 rebounds,” Davis said. “That’s the kind of effort we need.”
Marcus Davis led the way for Calhoun, 9-4, with a game high 29 points and 19 rebounds. His effort made his dad reminisce.
“He moved like he did as a sophomore,” Davis said. “That’s the quickest he’s been and the best he’s jumped in a long time.”
Zach Houchin aided Davis with 20 points. Houchin also had eight rebounds and eight assists. It was Houchin’s third high scoring game in his

Jake Perkins added 16 points and 15 rebounds for the Red Devils while Mike Batten added 11 points. Tristan Harris added 11 rebounds to the
Red Devils’ cause.
Those five should start tonight with Derek Roberts, Shawn Hillegas, Ryan ‘Goob’ Fitzwater, Tommy Gerwig and Chad Conley coming off the
Herbert Hoover is 7-5 and is led in scoring by Nathan Koepsel with a 16.4 average.
Following tonight’s game the Red Devils will entertain Doddridge County Monday.
