Calhoun County, playing without four-year starter Katie Hupp, got balanced scoring with three players in double figures to knock
off Sherman High School 45-39 Saturday afternoon.
With Hupp sidelined with a dislocated hip the Red Devils needed some people to step forward and they got it from Dani Church,
Ashley King and Casey Westfall.
Church led the way for the 2-6 Red Devils with 14 while King added 11. Westfall chipped in with 10.
Also for the Red Devils Courtney McKown had four while Amber Williams and Katie Walked netted three each.
Calhoun jumped on top of the Tide with a 10-6 lead at the end of one quarter.
Sherman, however, battled back and took a three point lead at the half, 18-15.
But after that it was all Calhoun.
"We won three quarters and they won one," Red Devils coach Doyle Hupp said.
Calhoun outscored Sherman 13-7 in the third and 17-14 in the fourth for the final margin.
Calhoun returns to action Tuesday night at Gilmer County.
