THINGS HAVE NOT CHANGED - Braxton Girls 71, Calhoun 39

(12/17/2003)

By Gaylen Duskey

Braxton County was very good last year with only two losses en route to a trip deep into the state tournament.

Things have not changed.

Tuesday night a very good Braxton stayed in the press - deep into the game - and kept some of its big guns on the floor until the end of the game to hand youthful Calhoun a 71-39 setback.

Michelle Facemire led Braxton with 24 points, including nine in the fourth quarter against the Calhoun reserves. Savana Priest with 17 and Elizabeth Carson with 10 aided her.

Ashley King led Calhoun with 16, including two three-point shots, while Casey Westfall added eight.

Calhoun County, now 0-1, will return to action Thursday night at home against Roane County.
