CALHOUN WOMAN'S SENTENCING DELAYED IN DEATH OF 2-YEAR-OLD CHILD - Undergo 60-Day Evaluation

(02/27/2013)

The sentencing of Ashley Kreh, 21, of Sinking Springs Road, charged with the murder and child abuse resulting in the death of her 2-month-old daughter, was postponed in Calhoun Circuit Court Monday.

Judge Thomas Evans III ordered the woman to have a 60-day evaluation regarding her mental and emotional status.

Kreh told the judge she was sorry, but did not give information regarding what led to the infants death.

Kreh entered in a plea agreement last fall regarding her case, but the court indicated Monday she could be facing 10-40 years.

Calhoun Prosecutor Shannon Johnson is recommending the maximum sentence.

An autopsy showed the infant died of blunt force trauma to the head in February 2012, determining she sustained a skull fracture and a broken arm.

An issue surfaced regarding a delay in the child receiving medical treatment.

Ordie Rogers, 30, the father of the baby, appeared in court Monday for a pre-trial hearing, He is facing child neglect charges.
