DINNER & AUCTION BENEFIT FOR ANNABEL JONES - At the Grantsville Senior Citizens Building on Sunday, April 27th with dinner being served starting at 11:00 a.m. and auction following. Annabel has been diagnosed with lung cancer. She is the wife of JR Jones, mother of Timothy Powell, Leonard Powell Jr., Kimberley Pettry, and Greg Kerby. Dinner will include Jim Sullivan's chicken. GUYS & GALS BINGO BENEFIT - For Clark Moore. Saturday, May 3rd at the Wirt Co. Senior Citizens Building in Elizabeth WV. Games begin at 6 pm, doors open at 4:30 pm. $20 for 20 games, Concessions, Silent Auction, Custom Made Gun Raffle, Coach Purse Raffle, 50/50 drawing, Early Bird drawing, Clark has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and is unable to work. All donations will assist with travel, medical and living expenses. There is also a fund set up at Calhoun Banks in Elizabeth WV, donations can be made at any branch. Allison Gumbarevic (above) daughter of Donna Hickman LaGrone of Mt. Zion has been accepted to attend a three-week Japanese language and culture instruction at Kinki University in Osaka, Japan. She will get six credits toward her degree for attending. Not only will she get the opportunity to study at a Japanese university, but she will take part in many cultural activities like the Tea Ceremony, Calligraphy, Flower Arrangement, Sumo wrestling and Karate. They will also make field trips to historic and cultural places, such as Kyoto, Nara, Nikko, Hiroshima, and Tokyo.

Jacob and Clay Tanner (above) sons of Dee Tanner and Kevin Tanner formally of Calhoun, based on academic, athletic and civic achievements have been selected along with 28 others as members of the 2014 Ohio All-Star Wrestling Team. They will be competing for the team on a 52 day cultural exchange during the summer of 2014. They are only the 9th and 10th wrestlers from the state to participate on the team in its 32 year history. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be divided among the kids to help with expenses for their events. All three kids are the grandchildren of Frances Tanner and the late Gale Tanner.

GOLF TOURNAMENT CANCER FUNDRAISER - The First Baptist Church of Glenville will hold their annual Golf Tournament fundraiser on Friday, May 16 at Glenville Golf Course. The first 18 teams to pay entry fee will play. 4 Person Scramble $200.00 per team. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. Tee-Off will be at 9:00 a.m. Make checks payable to FBC Cancer Fund and mail to First Baptist Church of Glenville at 217 East Main St., Glenville, WV 26351. BASKET-KNIFE-THIRTY-ONE BINGO - The Pleasant Hill "relay for Life team is sponsoring a Longaberger Basket, Case Knife and Thirty-One Bag, Bingo, Saturday, May 17 at the Arnoldsburg Community Building. Doors open at 5 p.m. Games begin at 6 p.m. At least 20 games for $20. 50/50 drawing, silent auction, and door prizes. Concessions will be available provided by the Spruce Hollow Church. QUILT RAFFLE - Calhoun Christmas Connection is selling tickets on a JoAnn’s Design quilt, donated by JoAnn Shock (see above) All proceeds go to purchase toys for needy families, Christmas 2014. MOUNTAINEER QUILT RAFFLE - The Pleasant Hill Crusaders "Relay for Life" team is selling tickets on a homemade West Virginia Mountaineers quilt (see above) designed and and quilted by Janet Rucker.
