MEMORIAL SET FOR REV. MARGARET “PEIG” SCHMITZ - A Dedicated Community Servant

(08/05/2010)

A memorial service will be held this Saturday at noon at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church for the Rev. Margaret “Peig” Schmitz, followed by dinner at the church.

Pastors Richard C. Metheney and Jerry N. Malona will conduct the service.

Schmitz died after a sudden illness.

She was a dedicated community servant, volunteering hundreds of hours of time each year.

The well-known minister came to Calhoun a number of years ago with her husband Clifford to pastor at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. The couple then decided to make the Calhoun Community their home.

Clifford died in 2009 after a lengthy illness.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John A. Schmitz and Nancy Jacobs; and grandson, Evan Jacobs Schmitz.
